Our President

Our President, the Very Rev. Neil Collings

ur President The Dean of St. Edmundsbury, the Very Reverend Neil Collings, is the principal dignitary, after the Bishop, of the Cathedral and, on behalf of the Cathedral Chapter, directs the life and work of the Cathedral. The Dean chairs the Chapter and is ex officio a member of all of the Chapter's sub-committees and working groups. The Cathedral is also a parish church and the Dean is therefore also Vicar of the Parish of St James, Bury St Edmunds.

We are extremely proud to have him as our President.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire choir family go to the Dean as he recovers from surgery to remove a brain tumour. The dean, who was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour at West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds is said to be in a stable condition after having an operation to remove the tumour at Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge.

The Dean is progressing well and it is hoped that he will return home soon. Please remember the Dean and his carers in your prayers.

Please do not visit or call the hospital. All contact should be made via the Cathedral Office: 01284 748720.
