he phrase ' ... dropped off the back of a lorry' could never have been more fitting than it was on Thursday evening. Over 50 of the lads crammed onto the back of a lorry outside Moyses Hall Museum to serenade the shoppers whilst the Christmas lights were switched on in Bury St. Edmunds. This event gets earlier and earlier in the St. Edmundsbury calendar in fact there seems to be some apprehension that we may have to turn next year's extravaganza down as it falls in the choir's summer vacation.
After being shepherded onto the back of a lorry the lads sang for 30 minutes before the arrival of Father Christmas cunningly disguised as Terry Mills, or should that be the other way round?

Economic gloom was put aside last night when bubbly BBC weathergirl Julie Reinger helped Bury St Edmunds to celebrate the start of the festive season by switching on the town's Christmas lights. A large crowd gathered in the Market Square as Julie was joined by Santa and his merry elves to celebrate the lighting up.
Children from local schools and St Edmundsbury Male Voice Choir helped the evening to go with a swing, alongside bands from West Suffolk College and Picture House.
Compering the show was Stephen 'Foz' Foster from Radio Suffolk, while members of the cast of this year's Theatre Royal panto Puss in Boots also joined in the revelry.
